Somehow found myself at another NASCAR event here at the Phoenix International Raceway. Not a lot to add to my first experience which I detailed here.
I did mention then, that I would like to spend the day photographing the tailgating. Lots of characters out there. But I had a ticket so was obligated to actually go inside. Found myself walking around a lot more this time as there was a monstrous man directly in front of me and no way to sit comfortably in my assigned seat for 3+ hours. I think I lasted 20 minutes and never went back.
It rained pretty good for a few days prior. A cloudy sky and relatively cool temp made all the difference. Enjoy!
24-pack cowboy hat.
Note: Flipping off when I take photo…
Hamming when pretty girl takes photo.
See, even hippies like NASCAR.
Slightly bummed about the shot above. If you hadn’t noticed, my brother’s a Gordon fan and this is his car. An otherwise clean shot (which is SO hard to get at this range) is trashed by an “official” photographer’s lens on the right side of the frame. I was trying to get a few through his window. Sorry bro.
Should’ve been something like this…
When I was taking some of these kinds of shots, I had a guy ask me if I was from Cheaters.com or something, haha.
Yep, that’s a temporary Safeway store out there.
The real shot would’ve been people walking on each level of stairs, but I could’ve waited all day and still not have gotten it.
Tried a panorama for fun. Give it a click for a slightly larger version.
One lap to go and my Dad and I left. No clue who actually won…although I know it wasn’t Gordon 😉
And for some reason I thought this was an appropriate final frame of the day for me.
